Gun Grabbers

In full disclosure, I am a Patriot Life Member (Benefactor) and Board Member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). I am also a Life Member (Benefactor) of the Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA), a Life Member of the Gun Owners of America (GoA), and the Dallas Safari Club (DSC). Those who know me are well aware that I enjoy nothing better than a nice time at the shooting range to hone and maintain my shooting skills. For me, it is all about discipline: calm hand and eye coordination, and precision. With that being said, I am seriously dedicated to that incredible right that we have in America, conceived on April 19, 1775, at Lexington Green: our right to keep and bear arms, that shall not be infringed.

The Second Amendment is enshrined in our rule of law, our Constitution, part of those first ten amendments referred to as our Bill of Rights. This right has been clarified, not once, but twice in the US Supreme Court in the 2008 Heller v. DC case and later in the 2010 McDonald v. City of Chicago. As I have always stated, nothing is a right to the progressive socialist left if it is not in agreement with their ideological agenda. An agenda that is in full display in some states in America — yes, Democrat-controlled — where gun stores and ranges were deemed “non-essential” by these tyrannical leftists.

In 2019, we saw a very deliberate movement supported by Michael “Mini-Mike” Bloomberg, whom I refer to as “Mayor Big Gulp,” to flip the state of Virginia. Bloomberg dumped $2 million into the Commonwealth of Virginia via his groups Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action to push for gun control candidates…and we know the rest of that story.

So, fresh off that success, what does the Napoleonic despot seek now? Yes, Texas. We recall that it was former VP Joe Biden, now the Democrat 2020 presidential nominee, who embraced Robert Francis O’Rourke here in Dallas, back in March, commenting that he would put Bob Frank in charge of his gun problem. Yes, that is what Joe Biden thinks of law-abiding, legal gun owners, we are a problem.

It was also Biden, who criticized Texas Gov. Abbott for allowing congregants in churches to be armed in the aftermath of the 2017 Sutherland Springs shooting where the government failed to upload the felony offenses of the shooter. We all know about one law-abiding Texan, Stephen Willeford, armed with a semi-automatic rifle who stopped the shooting at his church.

Then, there was Jack Wilson, who recently stopped what would have been a mass shooting at the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, Texas. Yes, one shot to the head from his semi-automatic .45 cal auto.

But, the left is not to be deterred from their ideological objective, a major part being the disarming of law-abiding citizens.

Michael Bloomberg and his minions have declared that they will spend $8-$10 million in Texas to replicate what they did in Virginia in the 2020 election cycle. And, it has begun.

As reported by Bearing Arms:

“Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety has launched a $250,000 digital ad campaign targeting several members of Texas’ congressional delegation, in its first salvo of campaign spending designed to keep Democrats in control of the U.S. House and flip the Texas State Senate [actually the Texas State House, the left is 9 seats away from doing that] as well.

The new ads are focused on five congressional districts in the state, all of them currently held by Republicans. The gun control group’s ads will run in districts held by Reps. Dan Crenshaw, Michael McCaul, John Carter and Chip Roy, as well as the state’s 24th Congressional District, where Beth Van Duyne is running for Congress. The Cook Political Report rates the 24th District a “toss-up,” while McCaul’s and Roy’s seats are rated “lean Republican.” Crenshaw’s and Carter’s seats are classified as “likely Republican.”

The ads, titled “Ignore Our Safety”, start out by proclaiming that the coronavirus isn’t the only threat to the lives of Texans [I agree, the real threats to the lives of Texans are these little tyrant leftists ruling in Dallas, Houston, El Paso, Austin, San Antonio, and even Laredo], pointing to the attack at an El Paso WalMart last August and accusing the Republicans of “siding with the gun lobby over us.” By “us,” Everytown is referring to Texas voters, but it’s actually more accurate to say that Crenshaw and the rest of the Republicans sided with the Constitution over the gun control movement.

The only policy that the ad specifically mentions is universal background checks, which is the policy that polls best for gun control advocates, and claims that “we” can’t afford the risk of re-electing pro-Second Amendment candidates this November.” (Emphases mine).

You can view the 30-second video ad that is being targeted against Texas Congressional Representative Dan Crenshaw, here.

I always love the language of “common sense” gun laws. Do you mean the Second Amendment? What the left fails to grasp is that only law-abiding citizens abide by laws. Look at the utter failure of the left’s bail reform laws, and how criminals are being released back onto our streets. Isn’t it about our safety?

Instead of throwing out a number, why does the left not focus on what type of shootings are occurring? Take out the gang violence, suicides, and other criminal related assaults and tell me, how many law-abiding, legal gun owners are out there committing shooting incidents? Of course, the left will never articulate the instances where a law-abiding gun owner takes action to save lives, such as Stephen Willeford and Jack Wilson. Nor does the left bring to light those instances where the government failed, and put lives at risk, such as in Sutherland Springs.

We know that the assailant in the El Paso shooting had been reported to law enforcement by his own mother. Kinda reminds ya of the Nicolas Cruz fiasco in Broward County, where the number of dropped balls by the Sheriff’s office and the School Superintendent were too numerous to count. No commercial ads run against them by Mayor Big Gulp and his flying monkeys.

Nor, does the left inform you that the majority of these “shootings” in Texas occur in Democrat-controlled urban centers where crime runs rampant. Of course, these are the same progressive socialists who want open borders and rampant illegal immigrant populations, but they want to disarm Texans? Let me remind Everytown for Gun Safety that Texas is the number one state in America for human and sex trafficking. Dallas and Houston are the top two cities, and both cities and counties are run by Democrats.

Nothing would satisfy the left, these tyrants and despots, more than to steal away the Second Amendment in the state of Texas via gun-control backing candidates.

The only way to fight back against this is not to have leadership in Texas that hides their heads in the sand, believing that this is just a leftist “talking point.” One must be aggressive and counter these incursions with the truth, as I have just asserted. As well, it will take someone who embodies the Second Amendment, not some whiteboard carrying wonk, or weak individuals. Virginia was lost to Bloomberg because no one took him on head-to-head. No one called him out from the Republican Party and openly challenged him.

Well, that dog don’t hunt here in Texas where “Come and Take It” is not just a bumper sticker slogan, it is a way of life. The storm clouds are gathering and the fight’s a-comin’.

Traveling Through Texas, Thinking About the Constitution

Howdy, y’all! I am sending you Christmas greetings from The Woodlands, Texas. Since early Monday I have been on the road to beautiful Kerrville, Texas, in Hill Country, then to Conroe and The Woodlands. I am about to hit the road heading to Sugarland, and later this evening, College Station. It is so very humbling to be able to travel and speak to true Texas Patriots who want to give the greatest gift to their children and grandchildren, the gift of liberty and freedom.

I want to share some thoughts, perspectives, and insights on a few issues. First of all, condolences go out to the family of a local Nassau Bay law enforcement officer who was killed last night. He was run over by an assailant. This comes as Houston is preparing for the memorial service and funeral of another law enforcement officer who was killed. It disturbs me that over the past years we have seen such a lack of respect and honor for our law enforcement officers, leading to their being targeted.

That brings me to the shooting just yesterday in Jersey City, NJ, where a law enforcement officer was killed. It should concern us that we had a targeted shooting, no, attack, on a Jewish delicatessen by assailants that have yet to be named. Reports say they were clad in all black. Now, I do not want to hear about this is a reason for more gun control laws. This shooting happened in New Jersey where we have some of the most heinous and onerous gun restriction laws. I fail to understand what the progressive socialist left does not comprehend regarding the Second Amendment? It is enshrined in our Constitution, our rule of law. It is part of our Bill of Rights. It clearly states, “shall not be infringed,” yet just last week we had another case on the Second Amendment going before the US Supreme Court.

Should we ban vehicles since they are being used to run over people, to kill our law enforcement officers?

The issue is not the weapon, it is the person. And what the left fails to grasp is that gun control laws are only followed by law-abiding citizens, not criminals. And three innocent people lost their lives yesterday in Jersey City, NJ because evil people had an evil intention, and only when confronted with equal and superior armed force, were they neutralized.

Which leads me to the shooting at Pensacola NAS, where three sailors lost their lives in an Islamic jihadist attack . . . again. These sailors were the responsible duty officers. Why were they not armed? Why has this continued after the jihadist attacks, oops, according to Obama it was workplace violence, at Ft. Hood, Texas, and at a recruiting station and Navy-Marine Corps Reserve Support facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee? Now there are reports about Corpus Christi NAS being on lockdown for a shooter. Why is it that we have disarmed our men and women on our military installations and rendered them like sheep? We trust them to use armed superior force in defense of our nation, yet, we do not trust them to be able to defend themselves on their installations?

Should we ban vehicles since they are being used to run over people, to kill our law enforcement officers? The issue is not the weapon, it is the person. #2A #SecondAmendment #2ndAmendment #2AShallNotBeInfringed #tcot Click To Tweet

Absurd!

Why haven’t we, immediately and indefinitely, suspended the military exchange programs with Saudi Arabia and deported all Saudi National military officers back to their home country? The message is simple, when you clean your house, you can earn our trust. We have learned that the Pensacola NAS shooter was a radicalized Islamic jihadist . . . well, duh . . . so were the 17 911 terrorists. Oops, sorry Ilhan Omar, those “some people who did something.” Our men and women in uniform and their families on our military installations are more important than any “relations” with the Saudis. After all, we are net exporters of our oil and natural gas resources, we do not need them!

The bottom line: I am sick of these tyrannical progressive socialist leftists talking about gun control, confiscation, disarmament. I am tired of red flag laws or any machinations thereof. I am tired of leftists commenting and telling me what type of weapon I can or cannot have. The Second Amendment is my damn right, and I am a law-abiding legal US gun owner . . . a citizen. I will not be relegated to being a subject, nor a victim. Mass shootings are the results of the evil of the people committing them . . . not a leveraging point for anyone to enact an ideological agenda to undermine the constitutional right of American citizens.

Remember, Hugo Chavez used the excuse of curtailing gun violence in order to ban private citizen gun ownership . . . and what happened there? Students in Hong Kong fighting against the tyranny of communist China were using bows and arrows.

Ladies and gents, that is what Mr. “Big Gulp” Bloomberg, Bob Frank O’Rourke, and their ilk desire. As I traverse Texas, there’s a simple message: “Come and Take It.”

A Teachable Moment for Julian Castro

Yes, I think we can all agree that leftists say the dumbest things. And, when it comes to their insidious, and delusional, desire to instigate the disarmament of law-abiding, legal gun owners, the left really says stuck on stupid things. I present to you the latest case of dumb and dumber, one failing Democrat (socialist) Party presidential candidate, Julian Castro.

As reported by Townhall:

“Presidential candidate Julián Castro stated during the “2020 Presidential Gun Safety Forum” that the idea of a good guy with a gun being a solution to shootings has been “shattered.” The former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development pointed to the recent shooting in El Paso, Texas, where a gunman drove ten hours to a Walmart to target Latino shoppers.

“This idea of a good guy with a gun versus a bad guy with gun has been totally shattered,” Castro said. “This guy must’ve known that in Texas, where you have open carry, you have concealed carry, you have campus carry, one of the highest rate of gun ownership, that shooter knew he was walking into a place where a lot of people were carrying. And that didn’t make a difference.”

“So this argument that some have made to suggest that the answer is more guns, to me, over and over again, not only in El Paso, but time and again, that has been debunked,” Castro added.  The amount of defensive gun use vary widely. In a 1995 study by criminologists Gary Kleck and Marc Gertz, they concluded there are between 2.2 and 2.5 million defensive gun uses annually. The Washington Post has reported the number is closer to 100,000 instances each year.”

For Castro to use just the El Paso incident as a validation for his absurd assertion is utterly ludicrous. If anything, my question is why was there no one in the Walmart parking lot armed to engage this deranged shooter? Personal safety is a personal responsibility. I think it is time someone reminded little Julian about what happened in Sutherland Springs, Texas. It was there that the US Air Force, along with law enforcement, failed a community and did not upload the criminal record of the assailant into the National Instant Criminal Background Checks (NICs) system. Therefore, the convicted domestic abuse felon was able to purchase a semi-automatic firearm, and embarked upon his evil intent.

It was a simple man, Stephen Willeford, who was alerted to the sound of gunshots by his daughter on that Sunday morning. It was Willeford, a simple man — and one whom I have met on several occasions — ran to the sound of the gun, with his own semi-automatic rifle, AR-15. He ended the scourge and mortally wounded the shooter. Hey, Julian, this was a really good guy with a gun who stopped a really bad guy with the exact same gun.

I would also remind lil’ Jules that the Mosque shooter in New Zealand was stopped by a legal gun owner with a semi-automatic handgun. But what action did the Prime Minister of New Zealand take? Yes, she banned all semi-automatic firearms. So, she made the good guy who had stopped the bad guy a criminal if he did not comply with surrendering the very firearm he used to end a mass shooting.

Guess what? Julian and his buddy Bob Frank O’Rourke, would do the same to Stephen Willeford.

Now, each month the National Rifle Association magazine, America’s First Freedom, has a segment called “The Armed Citizen.” Here are a few vignettes I would like to share with y’all . . . and Jules.

–  In Saginaw, Texas, two men attempted to rob a homeowner inside his garage at 5:45pm. One of the men allegedly drew a gun. In response, the homeowner pulled out his firearm and shot one of the men: that died from his injuries. [Saginaw Texas, 8/11/19]

– An armed robber was shot dead by a 22-year-old man early in the morning on Detroit’s west side. Two men on foot approached three people seated inside a vehicle, from behind and attempted to rob them. One robber, armed with a gun, allegedly assaulted the driver and demanded items. The 22-year-old drew his concealed carry firearm and short the robber multiple times. The man died of his wounds. [detroitnews.com, Detroit Michigan, 8/819]

– A home intruder in Sioux City, Iowa, was stopped in his tracks by a homeowner who used his firearm to defend himself. The intruder, under the influence of LSD and morphine, broke windows to enter the home. The intruder refused to leave, after being confronted, and physcially assaulted the homeowner. The homeowner retrieved his firearm and shot the intruder. The man later died from his injuries. [kscj.com, Sioux City, Iowa, 7/22/19]

– A Florida homeowner used an AR-15 semi-automatic platform rifle to protect himself from four alleged home invaders who reportedly broke into his house intending to rob him. An hour before the invasion, one of the men apparently knocked on the door and attempted to lure the homeowner outside by claiming to need help with his vehicle. The owner refused explaining that he was disabled. The man returned later with three others and broke into the home. Awakened by the noise, the homeowner grabbed his AR-15 rifle that he kept near his bed for protection. Two robbers fired at the homeowner. One wearing a “Jason” mask and gloves on both hands used a semi-automatic pistol, while the other was a 22-year-old armed with a shotgun. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, one robber was killed at the scene. The other died from his injuries at the hospital. [villages-news.com, Summerfield Florida, 7/11/19]

So, this is a teachable moment for Julian Castro, please stop saying really stupid stuff that can be easily debunked. We all know what you and your ilk have as a true intent, gun confiscation and disarmament. Look here silly boy, good people have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. They have a right to protect themselves, not just from criminals, but also from a tyrannical government, for which you are an advocate. This Nation and its quest for independence began on the issue of gun control. That was why the “shot fired, heard ’round the world” happened…the British were marching to destroy a weapons and armaments factory in Concord Massachusetts on April 19, 1775.

Then and now, we realize a simple fact, an armed individual is a citizen…an unarmed individual is a subject. And even worse, an unarmed individual is a victim for criminals.

I know that you are running to be President of these United States, God only knows why, since you would not honor our Constitution. And I am quite sure you have no clue about civics, nor read the Founding Fathers. So, let me close Julian, with a quote from the writer of our Declaration of Independence, and 3d President of our Country…something you will NEVER be.

“The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”

– Thomas Jefferson, Commonplace Book (quoting 18th-century criminologist Cesare Beccaria), 1774-1776

Hey Julian, take this advice from King Solomon found in Proverbs 17:28 (New International Version), “Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.”

Molon Labe! Translated in Texas as, “Come and Take It!”

Ask Allen: Guns; Concerns for Our Youth

As I travel on this annual cruise with the Media Research Center, I am taking a number of your questions to answer. Here is our first question for today:

With the Dems so hot on gun confiscation, why can’t existing laws be modified to allow police to confiscate them from known criminals, gang members, dealers, etc? Aren’t these the same people doing almost all shooting? — Rusty M., Medford, WI

Greetings, Rusty, and thanks for your question!

We already have gun laws on the books to do just that, charge criminals with unlawful possession of a firearm. That is a felony offense. There was once a program in Richmond, Virginia that was implemented by an astute DA that did just that.

Today, we have few DAs, especially in these Democrat-controlled urban centers, who are prosecuting criminals on this charge. Case in point, recently an appeals court in California dropped the charges of unlawful possession of a firearm in the case of the five-time deported criminal illegal immigrant who shot young Kate Steinle.

Yet, weirdos like Bob O’Rourke tell us that it is the legal, law-abiding, gun owner who needs to have their weapons confiscated. Earlier this year, there were House Democrats (socialists) who voted against a GOP motion to recommit (MTR) that would report illegal immigrants seeking to purchase a firearm. Enough conservative Democrats supported the measure and it passed, much to the chagrin of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who issued a threat against Democrats who voted with Republicans. This should tell you all you need to about the progressive socialist left.

In Chicago, where mass shootings occur every weekend, the mayor blamed Republicans for the gun violence there. But, if in Chicago they would prosecute criminals for unlawful possession of a firearm, it would make a huge difference. So, as in most cases, we do not need any new gun laws, we just need people to enforce the laws on the books.

I have grown tired of the laziness of elected officials who seek to “just do something” and lack the intellectual rigor to study each of these mass shootings and find the common factors, and develop solutions from that. If there is one thing that is most common, it is broken homes and a failure to have the National Instant Background Checks System (NICS) properly updated. As well, there is no tracking of violent behaviors of teenagers.

I hope this response can get to Bob Frank O’Rourke, as I have several AR-15s at home and other semi-automatic rifles. They cannot load ammo, chamber rounds, and fire themselves . . . It is only based upon the interactions with an individual and their intent. Furthermore, when Bobby talks about confiscating weapons that are used on battlefields, does he mean semi-automatic handguns, like the Sig Sauer p320, which is now the US Army M17?

God’s blessings Rusty, and be well.

Our next question today comes from my home state of Texas:

What are your plans to change young people’s vision of the Texas Republican Party, to make it appealing to a wider age range of voters? — Vicki N., Austin, TX

Howdy, Vicki! I pray you are doing well in the People’s Republic of Austin.

Yes, this is a critical aspect of my strategic plan regarding the Republican Party of Texas. First, it is imperative that we connect with the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in Texas and inform them of the history of the RPT, founded by 150 Blacks on July 4, 1867. It is imperative that we eradicate the misconceptions and misperceptions.

As well, I plan to speak on all of our major college and university campuses in Texas. We are already working on scheduling for the spring. Yes, that includes the University of Texas, Austin.

We can no longer cede over territory to the left, and, we must challenge them on our campuses, and in our high schools. I am a speaker for the Young America’s Foundation and an Honorary Advisory Board member of Turning Point USA.

I have already spoken on several college campuses, and there are some interesting videos of me responding to the insidious assertions of young leftists, such as this one, this one or even this.

As well, when we go onto these campuses, we empower our young conservative men and women who are constantly being assailed by leftist students, professors, and administrations . . . such as the threats young incoming conservative freshmen students at the University of Texas received from the Autonomous Student Network.

Ask yourself, why has the Texas Attorney General not opened an investigation into this group that publicly threatens students because of their political beliefs? If there is one message we need to proliferate, it is the question to young people, why would they want to hang out and support a bunch of control freaks?

As well, we must break down this “millennial participation trophy” mentality. Bottom line, Vicki, we must go on offense, and stop allowing the progressive socialist left to define conservatism, and force their delusional message into the minds of our young people.

We must be as passionate as the left, determined, resolute. Leftists in America are as wrong as wrong can be, yet they fight tenaciously. We have all the right principles, values, and ideological perspective, yet we cower away . . . no more!”

Thanks for the great question, Vicki! Steadfast and Loyal!
