Lt. Col. (Ret.) West is honored to receive the endorsement of Mark Meckler. Meckler has been at the tip of the spear in regards to protecting state’s rights and working to combat corruption in Washington. The advancement of the “Build Back Better” legislation in Congress is a glaring example of why his policies of reinforcing federalism are needed now more than ever.
Mark Meckler co-founded one of the largest grassroots political organizations aligned with the Tea Party movement, the Tea Party Patriots. He is currently president of Citizens for Self-Governance, “an organization that empowers citizens — not government — to make the crucial decisions that affect their lives.” He is also the leader of the Convention of States Project, which seeks to make legislative changes to a system he believes has become dysfunctional because citizens have less and less control over their own lives. Meckler feels the system as it exists now “is rigged to support the entrenchment of power,” contrary to the American ideal of a free society where individuals decide for themselves how to form their own communities and govern themselves.
Regarding Col. West Meckler stated:
“It’s time to have a Governor who does more than talk the talk. I’ve known Allen West for many years. I’ve traveled the country with him. I’ve seen him with grassroots activists. He’s the kind of guy who shows up early to set up chairs, and is the last guy to leave, always helping with whatever needs to be done. Most politicians run for office to gratify their own egos. Instead, Allen demonstrates consistent humility and practices the ideals of servant-leadership. If you believe that Texas needs real conservative leadership in action, as opposed to just conservative sound bites in the media, you should join me in supporting Allen West for Texas Governor.”
As Governor, West will continue to embrace the principles of limited-government that he and Meckler share. Federal power should not be used to abuse states. Texans and Texas will come first, not rogue and unconstitutional federal agencies.
