Greetings, everyone! I pray God’s blessings upon you and I wish y’all a very happy New Year. This is the first Monday message of 2022, and I am blessed to be able to share these missives with y’all.
Now, I must remind you — or for some, inform you — that voter registration for the upcoming March 1st primary ends January 31. Early voting for the primary election begins on February 14th and ends on the 25th of February. Therefore, we are about 43 days from the 2022 primary election. With that being said, there is a very important issue facing Texas, one that is leaving a dark stain upon the Lone Star State.
January is recognized as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Awareness month. January 11th is Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Sadly, we hear more about other months’ celebrations and awareness than we do of this month of January’s awareness issue. That is a major detriment for us here in Texas. We are 22 years into the 21st century and America is aiding and abetting human and sex trafficking at an astonishing rate. What must concern us as Texans is that we are leading the way.
The numbers do not lie, and they are beyond disturbing.
Texas is the #1 state in America for human and sex trafficking. Texas is #3 in the nation for missing children. Houston and Dallas are the #1 and #2 cities in America for human and sex trafficking. Texas has consistently received a “D” rating on the issue of human trafficking with our major failures being identification and response to victims, prevention, and resources for victims. We can go around and tout our economic growth and how businesses and corporations are moving to Texas, but this is a moral issue that is not being adequately addressed and certainly not rectified. We can go around and tout our economic growth and how businesses and corporations are moving to Texas, but this is a moral issue that is not being adequately addressed and certainly not rectified. — @AllenWest Click To Tweet
The recent unconstitutional actions of the Biden administration to implement an open borders policy has exacerbated the issue of human and sex trafficking in Texas. Fiscal year 2021 saw a record number of unaccompanied minors apprehended along the southern border — primarily in Texas — of 112,000. The transnational narco-criminal terrorists, aka cartels, are taking advantage of our lack of border security. These evil organizations have now incorporated human and sex trafficking into their models and are making an estimated $25-$30 million per week in trafficking humans.
We have all seen the stories and watched the video of airplanes landing in the middle of the night with illegal immigrant unaccompanied minors in Westchester County NY, Tennessee, and Florida. However, did you know that just recently, planes took off from El Paso Texas, landing in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton airport? Yes, that has been reported. These flights began on December 11th and continued on the 17th, 25th (two flights), 30th, 31st, and yes, even on New Years Day.
The only logical deduction from this is that our very own federal government, the Biden administration, is aiding the human and sex trafficking endeavor in America. Yes, they are involved in the 21st century slave trade. Then again, it should not come as a surprise since the Democrat Party has always supported slavery . . . physical and economic. But, what is surprising, is that in Texas, with Republican leadership, our state leads the nation in this abhorrent and immoral category. Yes, it is a dark stain upon the Lone Star.
The lock downs of the past 12-18 months did not help matters in relation to this issue. In 2020, the federal courts convicted the lowest number of defendants in human trafficking cases since 2012. As well, online forms of sex trafficking increased by more than 45 percent.
While there has been failure with government, concerned citizens are waking up and taking action, and this is a great thing. There are organizations such as Untrafficked, Childproof America, and several others that are stepping up. As a matter of fact, on the January 15, 2022, Childproof America will be holding a National Human Trafficking conference in Sugarland (Ft Bend County), Texas.
Alongside these citizen and private sector efforts, we must take the fight to these cartels. We have to stop allowing the transport of individuals here in Texas illegally all across the state and America. The 501(c)(3) non-profits that are working with the Biden administration processing illegals must have their licenses revoked. We cannot allow flights to take off from any airfield in Texas with illegal immigrant unaccompanied minors . . . and, that includes from our military installations. The establishment of a Texas Border Control Zone (BCZ) is necessary to control this flow.
Most importantly, we must stop the transport of these minor children! That means empowering our constitutional officers, sheriffs, and providing them the resources they need. It also means increasing the penalties for those involved in the human and sex trafficking industry.
I must admit, personally, I believe that any adult enabling or utilizing the trafficking of children for sex purposes deserves the death penalty. Perhaps that is a discussion for another missive.
January is also the month for the March for Life, on January 21, 2022. I do not see these as separate occurrences, they are intertwined. It all comes down to a moral regard for life, born and unborn, and we must protect children both in and outside of the womb. That means an end to the insidious issue of child gender modification procedures here in Texas.
January is the month for life, all life. This is a month when we must become aware of the darkness that is trying to blot out the illuminating light of the Texas Lone Star. We have a choice to make, and the ability to have input on these issues in the primary election ends at the end of this month, January 31st.
If elected Governor of Texas, you have my word I will remove this stain from the Lone Star. I will not allow for the proliferation of human and sex trafficking, slavery, in Texas. I will protect our children, and yes, those who are being brought here illegally . . . they deserve to be protected from traffickers. Additionally, we must protect our own children from being abducted and being forced into the lie of gender dysphoria. Life is precious, and as a soldier for 22 years, I have that firm understanding.
Start the new year off right Texans: let us join together and end this scourge of human and sex trafficking in our beloved state.
Steadfast and Loyal,
Lt. Col. Allen B. West (Ret.)
