Forced Isolation, Forced Masking . . . Texas Style

Good TGIF, y’all!

Here in Texas, our “forced isolation” or shelter-in-place order imposed unilaterally by Dallas County Judge, Clay Jenkins has been extended. As of yesterday noon, the Lone Star State, a state of 28.9 million people, had lost 70 Texans to the Wuhan Chinese COVID-19 virus. Yes, I am sure folks will comment that is because we are not doing enough testing. It is always very difficult to prove or disprove a negative.

But, it appears that some in Texas may be going just a tad too far.

As reported by KGNS in Laredo, Texas,

“[Laredo City] Council came together to discuss and pass motions that will affect just about everyone in the city when it comes to the coronavirus. The stay at home measures continue to change.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, society is having to change how they live.

Tuesday evening, council members came together, while keeping their distance. Some in different rooms, others joined in through their computer in their home.

But something was new: everyone present was wearing a protective face mask.

A motion was passed making it a punishable offense for all ages to be out in public between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., with the exception of “essential workers” or emergency situations.

You will need to provide I.D. and a letter from work if you are out between the hours of the new curfew.

The City says police will use discretion and you could face a fine between $50 to $1,000, and it’s an arrestable offense.

This new measure goes into effect on Thursday at 12:01 midnight.

A second motion was passed that included the mandate for all Laredoans to begin wearing protective face masks, or “nose to mouth” covers. That includes any type of fabric, scarf, or bandana.

This measure also takes effect Thursday at 12:01 midnight, and it can be punishable of up to $1,000, but a judge could determine the final fine.

If you are exercising in your yard or garage, you do not have to wear a mask.

The executive order was extended, putting all these mandates into effect until April 30th.”

So let me get this right: in Laredo, Texas, the City Council, government, has mandated everyone to wear a face-covering, or else face a fine? I suppose the folks of Laredo should be thankful they aren’t in the Philippines:

“President Rodrigo Duterte is allowing the use of deadly force against those found violating lockdown standards implemented in an effort to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.” — NY Daily News

So, I guess a $1,000 fine is better than being shot.

I have never been a fan of collective punishment as a means to adjust individual behavior, but that is a socialist, communist, ideal. It is always done under the guise of 'the public good.' Click To Tweet

Regardless, think about this precedent being established by the City Council of Laredo. They have just decreed that you will do something, under the premise of the public good, or else face a fine. Oh, by the way, is the City Council of Laredo going to provide some type of face covering? What is the difference between this, in principle, and the individual mandate of Obamacare? Remember, you must purchase health insurance, for the better good, or else you will be fined? What happens when government decides that you must purchase an electric vehicle, for the better good of climate change, or else you will be fined? Or, how about you must buy plant-based “meat” products, for the better good, and government will raise taxes on real meat products in order to modify your behavior?

I have never been a fan of collective punishment as a means to adjust individual behavior, but that is a socialist, communist, ideal. It is always done under the guise of “the public good.” Some municipal governments have implemented a Sugar Tax, basically unlawful fines, placed on certain beverage products. Again, all because a group of elected officials has determined what is our “better good.”

No, I do not like this mandated decree to wear a mask, under penalty of a fine. One thing is for certain: I do not want anyone mandating I wear a protective mask that was “made in China!” Thanks, but I will just pay the fine.

“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

How true.

Choose Life

Deuteronomy 30:19 (NIV):

“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.”

Choose life: two simple words that should be rather easy to comprehend, but in these times they seem confusing to some. Here in Texas, we have the organization founded by a white supremacist and racist, Margaret Sanger’s Planned Parenthood, suing the state of Texas because their clinics were not deemed “essential.” Imagine the unthinkable hypocrisy that at a time when we are fighting to save lives, by choosing life, we have an organization wanting to take more lives, innocent lives. One they deem as an essential function?

What type of sick, delusional, despicable mind would conjure up such insanity, such savagery?

Well, it appears we have another epidemic, virus, spreading throughout our America. We recently shared a post with y’all about “death panels” being considered as part of this COVID-19 issue.

Now, let’s put somethings into perspective here before moving on. To date, we have experienced some 90,000 Americans affected by COVID-19 and approaching 1,400 who have lost their lives to the virus. In comparison, this common flu season, nearly 41 million Americans have been affected, with over 600,000 hospitalizations, and sadly 40,000 have died. Yes, I said that right, we have lost 40,000 Americans this flu season. We also know that during the H1NI flu episode there were 61 million Americans affected, and tragically 12.469 deaths.

Why are we seeing such a panic-driven, paranoia-laced, and hysteria promoted response in this present case? Unfortunately, I am about to share with y’all a disturbing event that just took place here in Texas.

As reported by Church Militant:

“A Texas prelate is breaking with fellow Lone Star State bishops, refusing to sign a statement that would strip hospital patients of their protections. His act has exposed a growing rift within the U.S. hierarchy over fundamental Catholic teaching on protecting life.

Bishop Joseph Strickland of the diocese of Tyler won’t back a declaration by the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops (TCCB) that calls on Gov. Greg Abbott to lift penalties against healthcare rationing at hospitals amid the growing viral pandemic. In essence, the declaration would give hospitals carte blanche to decide who gets to live and who gets to die among coronavirus-infected patients, regardless of their reasons for choosing one patient over another.

Published Friday, the “Statement on Scarce Healthcare Resources” declares that “critical medical triage decisions are best left to the professional judgment of healthcare providers.”

“In order to encourage this sound practice of medicine, the Bishops support the Governor waiving regulations and statutes which could result in fines civil liability, and even criminal charges for decisions related to the allocation of resources during this declared disaster,” the statement continues.

Pro-life observers note that to the uninitiated, the statement may read as reasonable — but the devil is in the details. One analyst who asked to remain anonymous told Church Militant Saturday that the TCCB wants to remove legal protections that hold physicians accountable — measures designed to ensure doctors practice good medicine. The ability to sue helps keep bad behavior in check, stressing that patients and their families must have legal recourse, especially in times of crisis, as now.

Bishop Strickland’s refusal to sign the TCCB statement isn’t the first time he’s stood alone in defense of Church teaching. Earlier this month, while other U.S. bishops stayed silent, Strickland publicly called for an investigation into Catholic Relief Services (CRS), after Michael Hichborn of the Lepanto Institute released a report spotlighting CRS documents encouraging the use of condoms as a means of combating sexually transmitted diseases.

For faithful Catholics, the bishop’s uncompromising defense of orthodoxy is inspiring. But some expect Strickland to be targeted by fellow bishops for his stance.

One Texas Catholic told Church Militant, “They’re going to barbeque Strickland over this. He’s going to need strong support from the laity moving forward.”

There is a reason why I included Deuteronomy 30:19 at the beginning of this missive, under the title of “Choose Life”. How could these Catholic Church Bishops take such an unBiblical position…openly? When we have so called religious leaders advocating for rationing of healthcare it is time we get informed, engaged, and involved. If I were a Catholic my immediate question to my Priest, and Bishop, is do you support the letter sent by the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops, or Bishop Strickland. We can no longer sit back and allow these so called religious leaders to take on positions that are contradicting, antithetical, to the teachings of our Judeo-Christian faith heritage.

This so reminds me of 2 Timothy 4:2-5 (NIV), “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.”

I am going to state what must be stated, evil has invaded the Church itself. We are witnessing a time of false prophets and dangerous dogma being espoused that has nothing to do with our faith in God and the fundamental beliefs of Christianity. The culture war is now fully being waged within the sanctuaries of our places of worship. Just as our once-venerable system of education has become a system of indoctrination. Our churches, and these religious figures, are now preaching their own desired, causing people to reject sound doctrine, truths, and yes, turning aside to false narratives and myths.

America is gripped by an ideological civil war and the progressive socialist left has done an admirable job in infiltrating even churches to promote and advance their agenda.

It all comes down to this:

Joshua 24:15 (NIV):

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

This indeed is a time, a season, for choosing, and the future of this great Constitutional Republic depends upon that choice.

A special hat tip and a hearty “Steadfast and Loyal” goes out to Tyler Texas Bishop Joseph Strickland. We need to lift him up in prayer and support him wholeheartedly, or else he will be persecuted by what has become an institution, not a Judeo-Christian religious faith.

When Exploiting the Health Crisis Hits Closer to Home

Saturday I shared with y’all the insidious political exploitation of the COVID-19 crisis by the Mayor of Champaign, Illinois. Sadly, there are always going to be opportunists who seek ideological advantage and gain in a crisis situation.

Now, it appears that here in my home, the Lone Star State of Texas, we are not immune from the same.

As reported by the Texas Tribune (a media outlet funded by George Soros):

“A Texas-based immigrant rights group sounded alarm bells Friday about recent immigration enforcement raids it said have created fear within the immigrant community and will result in sick [illegal] immigrants not seeking medical attention should the new coronavirus strike the borderlands.

There have been at least six raids by immigration officials in El Paso County in the past two weeks, said Fernando Garcia, the executive director of the Border Network for Human Rights. Garcia and other advocates said the enforcement is ill timed as the pandemic has cloaked the country in uncertainty and fear. The raids targeted small, Latino-owned businesses in the community, he said. “We have a list of documented cases. We’ve talked to the business and the people, and all of that has been verified within our own internal process,” Garcia said.

The organization prepares annual reports on enforcement and use-of-force incidents and investigates claims of abuse or government overreach in immigration enforcement. “We have the names of the business, we have talked to the owners and we have the names of employees,” he said. “That is the way we have done our traditional documentation campaign. Now the next step for us is to sit down with ICE and demand they stop these enforcement actions.”

In a statement, a spokesperson for Immigration and Customs Enforcement in El Paso said the agency does not conduct enforcement operations at medical facilities “except under extraordinary circumstances.”

“Claims to the contrary are false and create unnecessary fear within communities. Individuals should continue to seek care for medical conditions,” spokesperson Leticia Zamarripa said. She added that the agency, “like other law enforcement agencies with a detained population, is taking important steps to further safeguard those in our care and, as a precautionary measure, ICE is temporarily suspending social visitation in all of its detention facilities.”

In essence, this group is seeking is to cease protecting American citizens from those in our country — and our Texas — illegally. It would not surprise me at all if this leftist mayor would declare a state of emergency and mandate that such law enforcement actions be suspended. Let us not forget that these are the very same people who advocate for “open borders” and we once shared with you an assessment of the healthcare issues such an absurd position enables…primarily for our Border Patrol agents and their families.

Yes, “never let a good crisis go to waste” is the mantra of the progressive socialist left, and this is yet another example. If there was ever a time to secure our borders, it is now. Think of it this way: isn’t a travel ban basically an aerial shutdown of our border? This is what the left criticized in the beginning with the Trump administration. I believe that the situation would be far worse if that travel ban, and the ensuing one against the European Union had not been implemented.

Speaking of the European Union, think about the concerns with the spread on their continent since they have free, open borders within the EU zone. Perhaps that is why we are now seeing Spain and the next contagion area in Europe.

But, the left has never allowed facts to dissuade them from pursuing their goals and objectives.

If there is one thing I despise, it is the creation of fear and hysteria in a crisis situation. This is a clear example of such, by insinuating that our law enforcement officers, performing their duties, are creating fear in El Paso over being sick is juvenile at worse, delusional at best. Having borders that are not secure during a time of a global pandemic is irrational, and dangerous.

The progressive socialist left will use any crisis to advance their ideological agenda. For us here in Texas, just imagine, this is what “turning Texas blue” means, free reign of illegal immigrants in our State, and draining our healthcare resources. Remember, every single Democrat presidential candidate once affirmed that they would provide free healthcare to illegal immigrants. Where does that leave you?

Super Tuesday Results From Texas: It Ain’t Pretty

Ever since I was a little boy, I have always enjoyed math. It was always a treat solving equations and figuring out solutions based upon formulas. Regardless of the common core math fallacy, there are objective truths, and they can be found in the study of mathematics. I suppose that was why being a US Army Field Artillery officer was the perfect fit for me, figuring out firing solutions to put “steel on target.” Back in the day, we had to do our computations, under time constraints, with tabular firing tables and slide rules . . . those were the days.

Numbers tell a story when you know what to analyze, and they provide insight and the ability to develop plans and strategies. Therefore, our campaign staff for Texas GOP Chairman decided to take a look at some numbers from the Super Tuesday primary election here in the Lone Star State. We believed the results would tell us a story, but the story we uncovered is not a good one.

I think it is time those living in a delusional fantasy land stop kidding themselves, and realize that, well, yes, “Houston, we have a problem.” Now, I am not an alarmist, certainly not one to panic, but I am a realist. And, it is time we get real about what is happening, politically, in Texas.

It is, sad to say, a repeat of what the progressive socialist left has been doing in other once strong, conservative states.

The data found below comes from the Texas Secretary of State website. You can also see the results by county by party. This is all open-source data that anyone can find, research, analyze, and assess. What we did was to look at the major population centers in Texas, by county, and several surrounding counties, to provide a picture of what happened in this primary election cycle.

By comparison, we looked at three rural (lower population) counties. This is the data we found posted as of Thursday, March 5th. Here is what we found, with “us” meaning Republicans:

The turnout percentage number is based upon the number of registered voters in those respective counties. What has to be rather disconcerting is the low voter turnout for Republicans overall, but especially in some very critical counties, such as where I reside, Dallas County…which saw a dismal 6.2 percent turnout.

We must increase voter enthusiasm, turnout...more than ever in major population centers. It's critical that Republicans are inspired, not just for the top of the ticket, but for the complete ballot. #Election2020 #SuperTuesday Click To Tweet

The first critical analysis from this data is that we must increase our voter enthusiasm, turnout. That has to occur more than ever in the major population centers. It is critical that Republicans are inspired, and not just for the top of the ticket, but for the complete ballot. That means voter education, and the development of ballot slates is vital. We can ill afford another bushwhacking, like in 2018 where the Texas Republicans lost 12 state house seats, and most importantly 56 judicial positions.

Yes, we must be concerned about the progressive socialist expansion from these major population centers. We can easily ascertain that their spread is in a particular direction. If you look at Houston — Harris County — you will find that the left is finding success to the west in Ft. Bend County. This is very important since there is an open congressional seat up for grabs there. We cannot continue to tout winning a Texas State House special election a few months ago, where the Republicans greatly outnumbered the Democrats.

Going into the November 2020 election cycle, it is imperative that we develop a political calculus to determine the precincts in these major population centers where we can grow numbers. This is not just about registering folks to vote! We gotta get them out to vote!

Going into November, it's imperative we develop a political calculus to determine precincts in major population centers where we can grow numbers. It's not just about registering folks to vote! We gotta get them out to vote! Click To Tweet

Where can we gain those Independents and disaffected Democrats who do not wish to go down the path of the left’s ideological agenda? We must force the Democrats here in Texas to define what “turn Texas blue” means. We do not win on defense. It is time to go on offense. In essence, this is all about “micro-targeting” in these population centers, with definitive MOE (measures of effectiveness), goals, milestones, that we must hit . . . and that means careful management and constant updates.

If there is one thing for certain, it is that we must deliver our conservative message into the place where you find the greatest failure of leftist policies . . . the major cities. Just look at Austin.

Another staggering tidbit of information I never thought I would see in the Lone Star State, Bernie Sanders garnered over 633,000 votes and was the choice of Democrats in Denton, Bexar, Travis, Hays, and El Paso, just to name a few.

As well, that means finally, engaging, and sustaining, a policy relationship with the black and Hispanic communities. There is no reason why the Texas GOP should not have the Asian, namely the Vietnamese and Indian, communities solidly in our corner in the Lone Star State!

Further, it is time to roll up our sleeves and stand shoulder to shoulder with our Young Conservatives of Texas on these college and university campuses.

By a short comparison, let’s look at counties where I visited on Thursday, in the Texas Big Country. Abilene, Texas is in Jones and Taylor Counties

Jones – registered voters 9,287
D – 336 votes cast  – 3.62% turnout
R – 2,765 votes cast – 29.77% turnout

Taylor – registered voters 79,737
D – 4,824 votes cast – 6.05% turnout
R – 15,963 votes cast – 20.02% turnout

Coleman (County, south of Abilene) – registered voters 5,818
D – 163 votes cast 2.8% turnout
R – 2,354 votes cast 40.46% turnout

Folks, let me share a little something with y’all: when I shared this data in Abilene, they were shocked to hear some of these numbers. We must have an 80-100 percent turnout in our rural counties and that means East and West Texas. Nothing less will suffice, this is all hands on deck, “all in,” for Texas. If we have a massive turnout in our outer ring areas, regions, and then strategically focus — and, I mean like lasers — in the major population centers, we can pull off a resounding victory in November 2020!

However, if this is the trend, as these numbers suggest, then “Katie bar da door.” We must hold Texas, in order to hold America. Remember, mini-Mike is dumping $8M here to support anti-gun candidates running for the Texas State House in Dallas and Houston counties. I predict that Joe Biden will select a black female as his VP candidate. Sorry ol’ Bob Frank O’Rourke.

This is a fight, but we have all the right tools in our shed. We just gotta go for it, and, by God, show up!

Steadfast and Loyal!

Happy 184th Texas Independence Day

Greetings, everyone! Today is the 184th celebration of the establishment of the Republic of Texas.

Texas Independence Day is the celebration of the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836. With this document signed by 59 delegates at Washington-on-the-Brazos, settlers in Mexican Texas officially declared independence from Mexico and created the Republic of Texas.

The reason why the Texas state flag is the only one authorized to fly at the same height as the American flag is because Texas was once its own Republic. As a matter of fact, it was not until nine years later that Texas was admitted into the Union, and became a sovereign state of these United States of America.

However, consider this: even to this day, Texas Independence Day is not a statewide holiday. There is reduced staffing, but offices are not closed. This begs the question: how many even know that today is Texas Independence Day? How many people know that 184 years ago, this was day nine of the siege at The Alamo?

Heck, how many residents in Texas even know that Texas was once a Republic, which has its own Declaration of Independence? If I remember correctly, it is the only state in these United States of America that does. She singularly fought and won a revolution, a war of independence.

This is why there is a swagger in Texas. This is why the Lone Star State has a deep meaning, an aura, that is known worldwide . . .  a mystique. It is all because from October 2, 1835, through March 6, 1836, it fought for its independence, which was not secured until the 18-minute woodshed whipping put on General Santa Anna and his Mexican Army at the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836.

But, what does Texas Independence mean today?

When you look up the word independence, you see phrases associated with that term such as self-government and self-rule. This is exactly what independence means. It is a mindset that when confronted with the dark specter of tyranny. Whether from the ruling British monarchy, or the despotic dictatorship of General Santa Anna, she refuses to succumb, surrender, retreat, or be subjugated.

Today, still yet, Texas faces a new threat, a new tyranny, that of progressive socialism that would seek to undermine that mindset of Texas independence. The leftism that challenges Texas is not from an external foe; it comes from those who live next door to us, work beside us, and go to sporting events, concerts, and dine with us. Consider that just last week, as we shared, Mayor Big Gulp — aka Mini-Mike — is unleashing $8M and his gun control organizations in Texas. His objective is to replicate what he successfully accomplished in Virginia and institute legislative edicts that are contrary to the gun rights that Texans enjoy. Basically, he wants to take away our independence, our freedom, and our ability to have self-rule. Thus, turning us into subjects, not Texas citizens.

I think we must begin to ask ourselves, and those who advance the leftist ideological agenda, just what does “turn Texas blue” mean?

Texas Independence is all about political, cultural, and financial independence. That is why Texas is the 10th largest economy in the world. Approximately 10 percent of Fortune 500 corporate headquarters located in Texas.

Texas has enabled the United States of America to be energy independent and a net exporter of oil and gas resources. Texas has its own energy grid. Texas has a landscape unlike any other. Texas has a culture, a history all to itself, a style that cannot be replicated elsewhere. What is vital, essential, and utterly important is that those coming to Texas realize what Texas Independence is all about.

Texas is not going to go backward. We will not surrender to the progressive socialist left, nor the masters of onerous government intrusion in Washington, DC. When those here speak of Texas Independence, it is first about securing that mindset, and if necessary, restoring the Texas Republic.

Allen West at the gun range for Texas Independence Day

The insidious notion of “turning Texas blue” is synonymous with making Texas — and Texans — subservient to government control. We all know that the first step to that end is gun control. Anyone who embraces the ideal of a “Blue” Texas means that they do not support, comprehend, or accept Texas Independence. The reason being that the concept of independence starts with the individual, and leftism is all about the collective.

I was born and raised in a state that was one of the original thirteen colonies. Georgia fought in our American Revolution for our national independence. In Georgia, I grew up understanding the proud and rich history of my birth state. Yes, Georgia was once part of the Confederacy, and so was Texas. But, history exists for us to learn from, not destroy. Georgia is the largest state east of the Mississippi, and has 159 counties, second only to the place I call home, Texas, with 254 counties. Amazingly enough, it was a Georgian, Mirabeau Lamar, who became the second President of the Republic of Texas, after a man from Tennessee named Sam Houston.

I guess there are some things that never change: a fella like me, originally from Georgia, educated at the University of Tennessee, residing in Texas. And, yes, showing up at a time such as this to remember, celebrate, and defend Texas Independence.

Hell yeah, God Bless Texas!

Losing the Culture War . . . Even in Texas

The progressive socialist left asserts that a college education is a right. Further, since they have declared it a right, it needs to be free. Well, a little memo to Bernie Sanders and his ilk, I had two daughters, and it was my responsibility as their parent to ensure they received a quality education. Angela and I took that responsibility to heart, especially considering that between my wife and myself we hold six degrees — two undergrads, three Masters, and a Ph.D. Between Aubrey and Austen, they have earned one Associates, two undergrads, and two Masters…Austen has started on her Masters.

Yep, I can hear the detractors complaining about cost, well, there is such a thing as the college 529 education savings plan. Unfortunately, this was something that Barack Obama decided to tax while he was President. As well, it was part of Obamacare that college student loans were nationalized, you know that socialist economic tenet of government control of economic production? It was through Obamacare that college student loan interest rates increased…not exactly a private-sector problem.

Angela and I have provided responsibly for our daughters. We do not see why it is our responsibility to pay for anyone else’s child unless we are to get refunded all the monies we spent on our daughters and put it towards someone else? What I love about the left is that they create their ideological agenda and then want us to believe it is a right…a la free college, free healthcare, everyone owning a home.

Needless to say, there is a reason why the left wants free college for all of our children and grandchildren to attend, instead of focusing on institutions such as technical colleges where they learn a skill and a trade.

Never forget that one of the tenets of communism taken from Marx and Engels’ book the Communist Manifesto is “state control of education.” In other words, nationalizing education. It is there that the left can indoctrinate young minds towards that ideological agenda, advance their cause in this culture war. It is no longer about education, and I mean these folks want control of your kids down to the pre-K level.

I gotta tell ya, when I look at what is happening on our college and university campuses…I, nor Angela, are paying for this.

As reported by Breitbart News:

“Texas A&M University hosted a drag queen show Wednesday evening at the MSC Town Hall event that was co-sponsored by the A&M LGBTQ+ Pride Center. Though the show, dubbed DRAGgieland, at Rudder Plaza was sold out, members of Tradition, Family, Property (TFP) Student Action, an international Catholic organization, protested outside the venue with signs as they prayed the rosary, reported the Eagle.

RuPaul’s Drag Race performer Kevin Richardson, aka Monique Heart, emcee’d the show. Texas A&M sophomore Caysey Mackey, aka Jessy B Darling, also performed in the show using music from hip hop artist Lizzo.

“Drag is fun, and drag is art,” Mackey said. “People getting upset about it is a little disheartening, but we are just having a good time.” According to the report, nine people performed in the show, including four students.

“Performances were required to remain PG-13 — meaning performers could not remove clothing or use explicit music — and were pre-approved by organizers,” the report noted. A&M junior Sophie Gonzalez, Town Hall special events executive, said 763 tickets were sold and the event was funded entirely by ticket sales.

Gonzalez said the drag queen show brings diversity to Town Hall’s regular schedule of events. She hopes the show will become an annual event.

However, TFP Texas representative Cesar Franco said the event should not be sponsored by university groups that receive student fees. “We are entirely opposed to the drag show,” Franco said. “This is something that doesn’t belong at an institution of higher education.”

There is my point: exactly, what screams “higher education” about this? Okay, some will say this is about entertainment, got it, but do we pay for our students to go to college for this type of entertainment? Who gets to decide what constitutes “entertainment?” I remember when the students at the University of Michigan complained about the movie “American Sniper” being shown on their campus. That happened at other college campuses as well. Many of these campuses make it severely hard for conservative student groups to have speakers on their campus…but I guess a drag queen show is just hunky-dory?

Houston, we have a problem?

If they want to have a drag queen show off-campus and students can attend, fine. But for me, this is not what I see as a function of an institution of higher learning. If you think it is, then feel free to send your kids there, to get a worthless degree in gender studies, and pile up debt. However, do not expect the rest of us to subsidize this absurdity…nor pay off the loans of kids who made an individual decision to attend college, and pursue a course of study that gives them no future in this 21st-century economy.

College and university campuses can be fun. Doggone if I didn’t have a great time going to Tennessee football and basketball games. But the purpose of college, our institutions of higher learning, is not time to focus on fun…it is to prepare. If this DRAGgieland event is what is considered fun, go ahead, knock yourself out…but I ain’t subsidizing it.

Don’t Try that Virginia Mess in My Texas!

In full disclosure, I am a Life (Benefactor) and Board member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), since 2016. I am also a Life (Benefactor) member of the Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA), and also a Life Member of the Dallas Safari Club (DSC), and a member of Gun Owners of America (GoA). Any of you who follow me, know very well that I own a nice collection of firearms. I am a full supporter of the Second Amendment. This past week I spoke on the campus of the University of Michigan for Young America’s Foundation on the subject of the Second Amendment and campus carry.

I say all of this as a precursor to today’s missive.

If there is one thing I have to admire about the progressive socialist left, they are relentless. They will not stop until you absolutely crush them, and I mean their will, spirit, determination. If there is one thing that the Republican Party, as a whole, fails to embrace, it is a killer instinct.

I am referring to the ideological civil war in which we are embroiled. The left in America is fully out of their “closet” and have no issue with expressing their desires for the fundamental transformation of the United States of America. They have proven that they will use any means of coercion, lies, deceit, threat, intimidation, manipulation, bullying, and violence to achieve their ends. This is not a debatable issue anymore.

Throughout the history of the world, no endeavor to rule over people has been successful without first disarming the populace. As I have stated, going back to October of 2012 at a Friends of the NRA dinner in Palm Beach County, “an armed individual is a citizen, and unarmed one is a subject.” Those words were first uttered by one of our Founding Fathers, John Adams, who used the reference “man.”

Throughout the history of the world, no endeavor to rule over people has been successful without first disarming the populace. #2A @SecondAmendment Click To Tweet

We all watched as a new Virginia legislative body was sworn into office and they made one of their first duties to disarm law-abiding, legal gun owners in that State. The new Sons of Liberty, led by the Virginia Civil Defense League (VCDL), organized, 91/95 counties became sanctuaries for the Second Amendment. On January 20, 2020, three years after the inauguration of President Donald Trump, where Antifa mobs roamed the streets in violent rage, those Patriots, citizens of Virginia took to their Capitol in Richmond, armed, exercising their First Amendment rights to free speech, to assemble, and to petition their government for redress of grievances. They could do so because they were citizens, not subjects…and there was not an incident to be heard of, reported…matter of fact, they left the grounds in a better state of appearance — contrary to the chaos of leftist groups.

Just this week we learned that the measure to ban semi-automatic rifles in Virginia failed in the State Senate Committee of oversight. The Patriots of Virginia had won a great victory . . . but as stated earlier, the progressive socialist left in America is relentless, and their thirst for power, control, is insatiable.

Therefore, Michael Bloomberg and his anti-Second Amendment flying monkeys are seeking to descend upon another state, and wreak their havoc, tyranny, by way of gun control.

Texas.

As reported by The Blaze,

“A gun control group co-founded by 2020 presidential candidate and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has announced a multimillion-dollar effort to support anti-gun candidates in Texas.

In a news release issued on Wednesday, anti-gun organization Everytown for Gun Safety said that it planned to spend $8 million in an electoral effort focused on the state legislature and congressional races as well as “educating the voting electorate in order to make Texas competitive at the statewide level.”

According to a corresponding memo about its plans for the Lone Star State, the group plans to put resources into 27 different House district races either trying to oust “gun lobby-backed candidates” or re-elect pro-gun control candidates, with a big focus on the Dallas and Houston suburbs. The memo also claims that the state House is “just nine seats short” of a pro-gun control majority.

On the federal level, the memo also says that the group will put effort into trying to flip control of seats currently held by GOP Reps. Michael McCaul, John Carter, Dan Crenshaw, and Chip Roy, as well as three House seats currently held by Republicans who are retiring. The group also plans to defend two Democratic seats held by Reps. Lizzie Fletcher and Collin Allred.

“Gun safety has become a top issue for voters — especially in the suburbs — as Texas becomes younger and more diverse, and after years of horrific gun violence and lawmakers who fail to address it,” a statement from Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action, which is a part of Everytown, says. “That’s why we’ll focus on electing gun sense candidates up and down the ballot in Texas, where a majority of households own guns because polling proves gun-owning and non-gun owning parents alike want their children to keep their kids safe.”

As stated, they are relentless and truly believe that here, in this state where the battle cry that established Texas is “Come and Take It” that they can do exactly that. It is here in Texas where there is a delusional former member of Congress and presidential candidate, Robert Francis O’Rourke who infamously asserted, “hell yeah, we are going to take (confiscate) your guns.” The left believes their Virginia playbook will work here.

One thing that Shannon Watts needs to understand is that Texas women carry. Texas women believe in protecting themselves, their homes, their loved ones, meaning children. Here in Texas, Ms. Watts, we have an issue with illegal immigration, meaning we have issues with criminal illegal immigration and gangs.

Texas is the number one state in America for human and sex trafficking, Dallas and Houston are the two top cities for this scourge. If there is one place where you will not be able to turn citizens into subjects it is here in Texas. If there is one place that embraces victors, and not victims, it is here in Texas. I will make sure you are resoundingly defeated and never seek to return this tyranny to the Lone Star State. You are just a new version of Santa Anna in a doggone dress.

The left truly believes that the demographics of Texas has so changed, like in Northern Virginia, that they can force people into accepting their gun control agenda. If there is one thing to realize, this objective is going to cause people to rally, Republicans, Independents, and Democrats…Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians…everyone and I mean law-abiding, legal gun owners, and liberty-loving people. Thanks, Ms. Watts, just gave We the People of Texas a resurrected battle cry: “Molon Labe.” We have seen what happened in Virginia, and will not succumb, surrender, or retreat.

I have a simple message to these “targeted” Republicans: do not go and get weak knees. To the Democrats this gun control organization believes they can spare, your days are numbered if you side against law-abiding, legal gun owners in Texas. In November 2008, the Republicans lost 12 State House seats. Thanks to Ms. Watts, we shall be winning those back, along with those nine State House seats. Otherwise, it would give the progressive socialist left a majority in the Lone Star State, and that ain’t happening.

Shannon Watts is not about protecting children, she is just another liar, a manipulator of the progressive socialist left attempting to mask their real and true intent. Michael Bloomberg, the feckless candidate that believes he can buy the presidency and impose this tyranny, stop running ads in Texas. There is no way this diminutive Napoleon complex personality will ever be our president, especially as he is personally safeguarded by armed security.

Ms. Watts, I hope that this missive reaches your desk, seen by your eyes, and here is my challenge: let’s have a debate about who you are and what your intentions are. Do not hide — like Bloomberg does — running incessant, insidious ads. Come out and be exposed for who you are . . . meet me on the debate stage!

Lemme tell you about my mom, a real American woman, Elizabeth Thomas “Snooks” West. My mom had her own .38 Special handgun. When drug dealers, pimps, and prostitutes tried to establish themselves on our street corner at the intersection of Kennesaw Avenue (our street) and Ponce de Leon in Atlanta, my mom went down with her pistol and a baseball bat and forced them away. She kept at it until they realized she was not relenting. That is how an American mom protects her loved ones and her home. I do not know what kind of mom you are, but my mom demanded action by exercising her Second Amendment right!

Ms. Watts, you and your organization are not concerned about our right to defend ourselves, you are just a bunch of charlatans, paid by a power-hungry billionaire, “Mini Mike.”

Gun safety boils down to this: don’t put your finger on the trigger until ready to fire. Or, keeping your weapon on safe, and turning the selector switch to “semi-automatic” when ready to fire. Oh, by the way, there is no such damn thing as “fully semi-automatic,” so stop having CNN use dumbasses to make their ideological agenda talking point.

Ma’am, “Come and Take It” is not a bumper sticker slogan, it is a way of life. Your San Jacinto moment is coming.

Molon Labe!

The Democrats’ Self-Inflicted Political Wound

Last week, after the results of the New Hampshire primary, we saw Democrats beginning to hit the panic button. We always hear that Republicans are worried, concerned, about having President Trump at the top of the ticket. I am not one of those. Too many weak-kneed Republicans are running around wringing their hands about Donald Trump’s personality, they are misguided. President Trump has been a fighter, a first in the Republican Party. His tweets, yeah, so what? They can be overbearing and incessant, but what matters most are the results of his policies.

On the other hand, the Democrats are running people for president who are banking everything on “I can beat Donald Trump” or “Defeat Trump.” They are making a total emotional argument that lacks any clear vision for policies that improve the quality of life of the American citizen. As well, many of these Democrat presidential candidates do not have personalities that are engaging.

Well, this panic is being realized and recognized by Texas Democrats.

As reported by Politico:

“Bernie Sanders’ staying power atop the 2020 field has Democratic insiders in Texas on edge: They’re worried nominating the Vermont senator would kneecap their hard-fought campaign to flip the Texas state house.

Putting a self-proclaimed democratic socialist at the top of the ticket would squander a prime opportunity to seize statehouse seats — and congressional districts — that have long been out of reach, robbing the party of a hand in next year’s crucial redistricting process, more than a half-dozen Democratic candidates, activists and political consultants said in interviews.

“There is overall uncertainty which is growing. The real fear for Texas D’s remains Sanders,” Bill Miller, a longtime Austin lobbyist who has worked with both Democrats and Republicans, said of a Sanders ticket. “’We’d be fucked’ — that’s what they’re saying. The drain at the top goes down to the bottom.” And to insiders like Miller, plans to nationalize the health care and electricity sectors will spook voters and weigh down local Democrats who are trying to thread a needle in this still deeply conservative state.

Sanders’ rising progressive agenda and the leftward march of Democrats like Elizabeth Warren has divided the party here about how to succeed and what lessons to divine from years of electoral losses born out of deploying untested strategies they hope will transform Texas into a battleground state.

“Sanders is a complete disaster and Warren is a complete-disaster-lite,” said Texas-based campaign consultant Jeff Hewitt, who has been working in Democratic politics since he served on Clinton-Gore’s campaign team in the 1990s. “At the end of the day, most of us want to win.” A Buttigieg victory is “not helpful” to the party’s goals in Texas, he said. But “he doesn’t hurt them as much” as Sanders.

While Democrats lost all statewide elections in 2018, they notched modest gains down ballot. They were able to flip two congressional seats and more than a dozen state House and Senate seats, putting them just nine seats away from taking control of the state House.

“For control of the state legislature and how the congressional delegation is drawn over the next decade, it’s very important that we do all we can to win the statehouse now so both parties have a seat at the table,” said state Rep. Chris Turner, chair of the Texas House Democratic caucus and who has endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden.”

What the Texas Democrats, and all Democrats, must realize is exactly what CNN contributor Van Jones said after the last Democrat presidential debate: not a single one of their candidates can defeat Donald Trump. You can only run on hatred to a point, but, in the end, reality, policy, and results matter. There is nothing that these Democrat (socialist) candidates are offering that bodes well for the Lone Star State. As a matter of fact, the mantra of “Turn Texas Blue” is nothing more than a recipe for failure and making Texas resemble all the other failed States controlled by the progressive socialist left, the Democrat Party. Just look at Virginia, for example.

The bottom line, and what Texas Democrat Rep. Chris Turner articulated, the Democrats in Texas only want power. They want to control the redistricting. Remember, Eric Holder is the Chairman of the National Democrat Redistricting Committee. The Democrats want to do as has been done in Virginia, with the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, consolidate national power, and Texas is integral in that.

Insidious leftist policies such as the “Green New Deal” are unacceptable, certainly so in a state like Texas that has made America energy independent and a net exporter of oil and gas resources. Texans do not want the failed economic vision of the left which would reverse the incredible economic growth, opportunity, and prosperity that all are experiencing. It does not matter who the Democrat candidate will be, it is all about the policies they embrace. Those policies, that platform, is dictated by the socialist left which dominates the Party of the Jackass.

The Texas Democrats are doing all they can to bring in and register young college-aged voters. Bernie is the candidate they want. If, for a minute, any of them believes that Michael Bloomberg will be their savior, he will not. Talk about someone with no personality and a Napoleon complex, you have Bloomberg. He is the fella I affectionately refer to as “Mayor Big Gulp” and his anti-Second Amendment stance certainly does not play well here in the Lone Star State.

There is an interesting juxtaposition. My concern is that folks will be so enthusiastic about voting for Trump, that they just hit the top of the ticket and leave the voting booth. Texas Democrats are concerned about who is at the top of their ticket to support their down-ballot candidates. I want to ensure we, as Conservatives, and Republicans, here in Texas, have a clear and understandable voting slate. We need the enthusiasm, but we also need educated and informed Texans going into the voting booth. We need to crush the left from top to bottom of the ticket, winning back the losses of 2018, and expanding our victories . . . especially in Texas State House and local level elections, big time with judicial positions.

I could not care less about President Trump’s persona. What I do know, the left cannot touch President Trump’s accomplishments . . . even if they do try and lie, deceive, and confuse us by saying this is all the results of Barack Obama.
