Greetings, everyone!

Tomorrow is National Airborne Day. National Airborne Day is a special day designated to honor the U.S. Airborne Forces and the first parachute jump of 48 volunteer members of the U.S. Army Parachute Test Platoon on August 16, 1940. This day is annually observed on August 16 by Congress and was signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2009.

The use of parachutes was an innovative method of warfare during World War II. This gave our armed forces an opportunity to deploy the troops behind enemy lines. The first parachute jump pioneered the way for future jumps and marked the birth of new airborne forces, that might play a vital role in the future of military operations.

British General Bernard Montgomery had this to offer about Airborne troops, “What Manner Of Men Are These That Wear The Maroon Beret? They are firstly all volunteers and are toughened by physical training. As a result they have infectious optimism and that offensive eagerness which comes from well-being. They have ‘jumped’ from the air and by doing so have conquered fear.

Their duty lies in the van of the battle. They are proud of this honour. They have the highest standards in all things whether it be skill in battle or smartness in the execution of all peace time duties. They are in fact – men apart – every man an emperor.

Of all the factors, which make for success in battle, the spirit of the warrior is the most decisive. That spirit will be found in full measure in the men who wear the maroon beret”

I was blessed, honored, to have worn the Maroon beret in my service to this nation. I earned the privilege to wear the US Army Master Parachutist, Army Air Assault, Navy/Marine Corps Parachutist wings and insignia. And, during my first duty station I earned my Italian Airborne wings.

This past summer we remembered the 75th Anniversary of Operation Overlord, the invasion of Normandy, the liberation of Europe from the tyranny of Nazi Germany. And leading the way, the night prior, were US Army paratroopers, 82d and 101st, Airborne and Glider troopers who went in behind enemy lines.

And, it was the 101st Airborne Division who was blessed to be told that they had a “Rendezvous with Destiny.”

Therefore, I cannot think of a better time than the eve of August 16, 2019, the tenth-year anniversary of National Airborne Day, to officially announce my candidacy for the Chairmanship of the Republican Party of Texas.

Texas has always had a “Rendezvous with Destiny” and right now the Lone Star State’s destiny is being challenged by the threat of progressive socialism. I stand ready to “hook up” and parachute into this fight, behind their lines, and take this ideological fight to those who embrace the ideals and policies antithetical to individual freedom, liberty, and self-determination.

I will take that infectious optimism and offensive eagerness to rally constitutional conservatives in Texas for the battle to “Hold Texas, Hold the Nation.” My life has been defined by service, sacrifice, and commitment to our Constitution. And, there is no better State in our Republic that reflects true American principles, values, than Texas. However, we are facing an onslaught that has overtaken several States to the west of Texas. This political opposition believes Texas is their next conquest. I say no! We must not forget that the Republican Party of Texas was founded on July 4, 1867, sharing our birth with that of this nation. And today, we are embroiled in a new fight for individual independence, rights, freedom, liberty, against the forces of dependence, collective subjugation, and victimization.

I will be the “first one in the door” as your Jumpmaster and when the green light comes on will look over my shoulder and give that command: ”Follow Me.”

Follow me at West4Texas.com, and please donate to our noble endeavor. This is our present-day mission, our destiny is before us. Let us embrace the “warrior spirit” that will lead us to a decisive victory in 2020 that will send a message to the progressive socialist left.

“Don’t Mess with Texas.”
